Imprinting nanoparticles: Core-shell bovine hemoglobin (BHb) imprinted magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) with a mean diameter of 210 nm have been synthesized for the first time. The imprinted magnetic nanoparticles could easily reach the adsorption equilibrium and magnetic separation under an external magnetic field, thus avoiding problems related to the bulk polymer. Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) is a biogenic amine that acts as a neurotransmitter in the central and peripheral nervous systems [1]. It is present in a variety of organisms, ranging from humans to species such as worms that have primitive nervous systems [2], and mediates a variety of physiological responses in distinct cell types. It is believed to play a role in the regulation of various co...

Non-covalent molecular imprinting of poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAA.HCl) with D-glucose 6-phosphate monobarium salt (GPS-Ba) produced molecularly imprinted polymer hydrogels (MIP) having an affinity to glucose over fructose. The hydrogels were formed by ionic association of the template molecule, GPS-Ba, to the polymer, prior to covalent crosslinking using epichlorohydrin (EPI). The templa...

The relationship between molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) morphology and template-rebinding over a series of warfarin-imprinted methacrylic acid co(ethylene dimethacrylate) polymers has been explored. Detailed investigations of the nature of template recognition revealed that an optimal template binding was obtained with polymers possessing a narrow population of pores (~3-4 nm) in the meso...
